Jim Lloyd Yeater, 69, of Ashland, passed away at his residence Wednesday, September 4, 2013 following an extended illness.
He was born on October 11, 1943 in Ashland to the late Lloyd Samuel and Marie Evalene (nee VanGilder) Yeater.
Jim resided in Ashland County all of his life. He graduated from Hayesville High School in 1961.
He married the former Betty Campbell on August 9, 1980.
Jim retired after more than 39 years from the F.E. Myers Company in 2003 where he first was an experimental machinist and later advanced into the laboratory where he built and tested pumps.
He was a member of the Stone Evangelical Lutheran Church. Jim enjoyed reading, working in his machine shop, and making repairs on his Farmall International Tractor.
He always lent a hand to fix a neighbors equipment when in need. Although many things were important to him, he had a great love for his two canine companions, Cassie and Abbey; and especially spending time with his family.
Jim leaves behind his wife of 33 years of marriage, Betty Yeater of Ashland; two children, Martha Marie (Bruce) Bryson of North Fort Myers, Florida and John Wesley Yeater of Galion; two step daughters, Shelly (Jim) Schoonover of Ashland and Stephanie (fiancé Aaron Shambaugh) Fike of Ashland; one step son, Terry (fiancé Melissa Weitzel) Fike Jr. of Ashland; six grandchildren; 12 step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one sister, Joy Sue (Richard) Cook of Raleigh, North Carolina; three brothers, Gene (Janice) Yeater of Ashland, Jerry (Patricia) Yeater of Ashland, and Tom (Kate) Yeater of Swanton; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Sue (Paul) Fingulin of Greenwich; one brother-in-law, Bill (Penny) Campbell of Woodsfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his four children, Sterling Sinclair, Porter James, Peter James, and Mary Lou Yeater.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Stone Evangelical Lutheran Church, 940 County Road 1754, Ashland, OH 44805 with Pastor Jan Berthinee officiating. Interment will follow in the Vesper Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Monday at the church.
