Irene Neikirk - 1927 - 2013


Irene Neikirk, 86, of Ashland, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 10, 2013 at Hospice of North Central Ohio.

Mrs. Neikirk was born July 18, 1927 in Attica, Ohio to the late Frank L. and Freeda E. (nee Bathrick) Covert.

She had worked in the Ophthalmology office of Dr. Paisley as a receptionist for 15 years retiring in 1996.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bible Study, Share Group, The Christian Women’s Association and a former member of the Altar Guild.

On July 14, 1946 she was married to Robert F. Neikirk who preceded her in death on April 23, 2000.

She is survived by two daughters, Karen Ann (Ronald) Strine of North Ft. Myers, FL; Jerrilyn Kay (Carl) Beasley of Ashland, OH; two grandchildren, Gabriel Strine and Jonathan Strine; one great grand child, Acacia Korsanwall, and one brother, John F. Covert of Attica, Oh.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert F. Neikirk, a granddaughter, Fiette Korsanwall, her sister, Beatrice M. Featherengill, and one brother, Anson Covert.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with the Rev. Sanford C. Mitchell officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center St., Ashland, Ohio 44805.
