Robert James Nesbit, 90, Loved Gardening
Robert James Nesbit, 90 of Ashland passed away Thursday afternoon, July 10, 2014 in the Good Shepherd.
He was born on June 8, 1924 to the late Robert Alexander and Margaret (nee Wade) Nesbit in Cleveland.
Bob graduated from St. Ignatius High School. Following high school, he join the United States Army and proudly served during WWII in the 556 Army Anti-Aircraft.
During his years he served at the Battle of the Ardennes. He landed at Omaha Beach and served at the Battle of the Bulge.
He married the love of his life, the former Helen Louise Allen on June 29, 1952.
Bob was a member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church and Harry Higgins Post #88 of the American Legion. He was an avid vegetable and flower gardener.
He is survived by five daughters, AdaLou (Richard) Cadwallader of West Salem, Sue Campbell of Akron, Margaret (Tom) Workman of Ashland, Roberta (Wayne) Weiler of Ashland; and Kathleen (Russell) Norris of Ashland; two sons, Robert Allen Nesbit of Wooster and James Nesbit of West Palm, Florida; 20 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Evelyn Smith of Geneva, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years of marriage, Helen L. Nesbit who passed away March 11, 2006; and two sisters, Marguerite Harper and Alberta Demeduk.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home with the Reverend Father Vincent Hawk officiating. Interment will be in the Polk Cemetery where the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends may call, Tuesday, July 15, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
