Paul J. Fogell, 99, WWII Veteran

Paul J. Fogell, 99, of Ashland, passed away, early Friday morning, November 14, 2014 in the Good Shepherd.

He was born on May 17, 1915 to the late Clarence and Rose (nee Baum) Fogell in Polk.

Paul graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1935. Following high school, he proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army where he was a Combat Engineer. Paul served under General George Patton in North Africa, Sicily, and Italy.

He married the former Maxine Lewis on February 19, 1942 in Ashland.

Paul retired after more than 42 years from the F.E. Myers Pump Company where he was an engineer.

He was a 60 year member of the Masonic Lodge. Paul was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church, where he previously served as an usher and a past president of the Jim Sterling Sunday School Class. He was also past president at the Senior Citizens. Paul was a Red Cross Volunteer and a Samaritan Hospital Volunteer.

Paul is survived by his two daughters, Connie (Adrian) Andrews of Ashland and Cathy (Jerry) Van Auker of Ontario; seven grandchildren, Brian, Jeffrey, Lori, Eric, Rachel, Jennifer, and Hailey; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mildred Braun of Ashland.

In addition to his parents, Paul is preceded in death by his wife of 45 years of marriage, Maxine M. Fogell on October 3, 1987; one son, Leonard L. Fogell on September 23, 2001; and one sister, Dorothy Valentine.

An interment service will be held, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashland County Memorial Park with Reverend Michael Namy officiating and the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends and family are asked to meet at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. for a time of visitation and process to the cemetery.
