Janice Carol Jones 1963 – 2015

Janice Carol Jones, 52, of Columbus and formerly of Ashland, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at her residence in Columbus, Ohio.

Janice was born in Ashland on January 28, 1963, to the late Leo C. and Barbara (nee Taylor) Jones. She was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1981 and The Ohio State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Music degree.

She taught music in the Columbus City Schools for 15 years and was most recently teaching music at FCI Academy in Columbus. She also taught private piano lessons to students in their homes.

Janice was an active member of the New Song Community Church in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. She was a member of the Reynoldsburg Community Band and served as the band librarian. She also was an avid scrapbooker and enjoyed cross-stitch.

Janice is survived by her stepmother, Dana J. Jones of Ashland; one sister, N. Christine Rafeld, and her husband Blake, of Columbus; three brothers, J.T. Jones and his wife Joy Mack Goodwin, of Columbus; Kevin C. Jones and his partner Joseph Bellissimo, of Columbus; and Nathan Jones and his wife Stephanie, of Naperville, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Barbara Jones; and her grandparents, Paul and Gladys Taylor, and N. Charles and Bessie Jones.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 3:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to World Vision, P.O. Box 9716, Federal Way, WA 98063, or to the Reynoldsburg Community Band, in care of Dan Eck, Treasurer, 3972 Parkview Rd., Mechanicsburg, OH 43044.
