Loretta Kay Newcomer, 75
Loretta Kay Newcomer, 75, of Ashland went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 7, 2015.
She was born on October 19, 1939 to the late Roy and Clara B. (nee Meeks) Shambaugh.
Kay graduated from Hayesville High School, Class of 1957. Loretta married Norman L. Newcomer on August 17, 1991.
She was a needlework enthusiasts who enjoyed quilt making and crocheting. Kay was a fan of the Cleveland Cavaliers and Indians.
Kay loved baking big Sunday dinners for her family. She will be most notably remembered as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Norm Newcomer of Ashland; two daughters, Terri (Janet) Heffernan-Wood of Ashland and Tisha (Todd) Smith of Jeromesville; one son, Todd Wood of Ashland; six grandchildren, Jed (Paula) Bookman of Columbus, Sarah Bookman of Mansfield, Jessica and Andrea Wood of Craigsville, West Virginia, Sophia and Kristofer Wood of Ashland; three step daughters, Karin (Craig) Banghart of Ashland, Debra (Richard) Weaver of Ashland, Lori (Raymond) Janevicius of Oak Brook, Illinois; and several step grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by three brothers, Ezra, Larry, and Ron Shambaugh.
Funeral services will be held, Friday, June 12, 2015 at 8:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home 313 Center Street, Ashland, OH 44805. Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics Ohio, 3303 Winchester Pike, Columbus, OH 43232 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
