Madeline F. Finnerty, Ph.D., 66
Madeline F. Finnerty, 66, of Ashland passed away Sunday, July 5, 2015 in Hospice of North Central Ohio.
She was born on January 3, 1949 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts to the late John J. and Frances (nee Klein) Finnerty.
Following Madeline’s graduation from Williams High School, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree of Art and Philosophy from the Newton College of the Sacred Heart in 1971. In 1987 she completed her graduate work and received a Master’s Degree of Business Management from Ashland University and completed her doctorate in 1999 from Fielding Graduate University in Human and Organization Systems.
She was President of Finnerty International, LLC, an organizational consulting firm Madeline established in 1992. She was previously employed at Sprint in a managerial position for more than 15 years.
Madeline was a devoted member of the Ashland Rotary Club, where she served as president from 2010 to 2011 and was a two time Paul Harris Fellow recipient in 2006 and 2011. Madeline traveled abroad to Italy and was asked to lead a Group Study Exchange Team for Rotary International. She also served as President of the Ashland Women’s Association. Madeline was a 2003 recipient of the Ashland County Women of Achievement Award. Her true passion in life was rescuing abused animals. She was a volunteer for the English Springer Rescue for many years.
Madeline is survived by two brothers, Jim Finnerty of Stockbridge, Massachusetts and Paul Finnerty of Huntington, Vermont; her fiancé, Jim Brennan of Westfield, Massachusetts; two nieces, Meredith and Caroline Finnerty; and one nephew, Matthew Finnerty.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11 Elm Street, Stockbridge, Massachusetts, 01262. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, July 8, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center Street, Ashland, OH 44805 and on Friday, July 10, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the home of Jim Finnerty, 15 Ice Glen Road, Stockbridge, Massachusetts, 01262.
