Obituary for Forrest "Bud" L. Fornash

Forrest L. “Bud” Fornash, 89

Forrest L. “Bud” Fornash, 89, of Ashland, formerly of Savannah passed away, Tuesday evening, August 2, 2016 in Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on December 3, 1926 in Philippi, West Virginia to the late Cyrus Lincoln and Geneva (nee Ward) Fornash.

Bud proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. He married the love of his life, the former Nancy Ann Smith on May 27, 1961. The happy couple shared 41 years wonderful years together.

He retired from Graphite Sales in Nova, Ohio. Following his retirement, Bud went on to work more than 10 years at Walmart in the Hardware Department.

He was a devoted member of the Savannah United Methodist Church where he was a trustee. Bud was on Savannah Council for numerous years. He served his community well in various civic groups and organizations including the historical society and participated in community plays.

Bud is survived by one daughter, Connie (Kendall) Burrows of Savannah; his feline companion Elwood; his canine companion, Daisy; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Bud is preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Fornash whom passed away, July 24, 2002.

Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 5:30 p.m. in the Savannah United Methodist Church, 10 West Main Street with Reverend Johnnie Swann officiating. Interment will be in the Savannah Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the church. The Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors.
