Obituary for Reverend Lee Knipple

Reverend Lee Knipple, 78

Revered Lee Knipple, 78, of Ashland passed away Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on July 31, 1938 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania to the late Clyde and Jessie (nee Hughes) Knipple.

Following his high school graduation, Lee proudly served in the United States Navy as a 3rd gunner during the Korean Conflict.

Lee was a graduate of Rhema Bible College in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He married the former Nancy J. Thomas on November 28, 1960. Together the couple shared 46 years together prior to her passing on July 30, 2007.

He was a resident of Ashland several times during his lifetime. Lee and Nancy came back to Ashland in 1998 from Brighton, Michigan. He was a member of Living Word Church in Mansfield, often singing duets with his wife Nancy as they both ministered the gospel in word and music for many years.
Lee was a typewriter repairman in his earlier years.

He is survived by his two daughters, Tama Taber of Ashland and Denese (Raymond) Ely of Stockbridge, Michigan; one son, Bryan (Grace) Knipple of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Amy (Tyler) Stone of Oklahoma, Beth and Noah Knipple and Haley Ely; one great granddaughter, Natalie Stone; one brother, Clyde (Terri) Knipple of Las Vegas, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lee is preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Nancy J. Knipple; one sister, Suellen Barbe; and one brother, Forrest Knipple.

Funeral services will be held, Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Vernon Gilmore officiating. The Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Interment will in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Gettysburg, PA on Friday, December 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Full Gospel Church, 1521 Short Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
