June Davis, 93
June Davis, 93, of Ashland, went to be with her lord and savior on Monday, December 26, 2016.
She was born on January 29, 1923 in Nappanee, Indiana to Earl V and Hilda Price Carpenter. She moved to Ashland when she was 5 years old. She graduated from Ashland High School in 1941 and attended Ashland College.
She married Ben W. Davis on April 30, 1944 in Park Street Brethren Church Ben’s father, Rev Sherrick Davis and Rev Lester King officiated.
She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Ashland College and Emmanuel United Methodist Church where she was a member and served on a number of committees. She volunteer at Samaritan Hospital and the food bank.
After they retired she and her husband spent 15 winters in Florida.
She and her husband liked to travel, they drove through all 48 states and many provinces of Canada.
June is survived by a son Kris (Amy) Davis; 3 grandsons Erik (Cheri) Davis, Brian Davis and Robert Altmeyer all of Indianapolis, In.; great grandchildren Declan, Veronica, Alex, Joseph, Brayden and Noah; 6 nieces; 3 nephews; cousins; and friends
She is preceded in death by her father in 1927, mother in 1980, husband, July 17, 2006, son Thomas E. Davis in 1991, and grandson Chad in 1973; a sister E. Jane James in 2002 and Marilyn Richcreek, October 2011.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Dr. Timothy Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the Vermillion Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 322 Cleveland Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
