Obituary for Casmara "Cassie" R. Kauffman

Casmara “Cassie” Regina Kauffman, 95

Casmara “Cassie” Regina Kauffman, 95, of Ashland passed away, Monday, January 09, 2017 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

She was born on January 2, 1922 in Cambria, Pennsylvania to the late Nazzareno and Carolina (nee Todesky) Ubaldi. In June, 1956, Cassie married Edgar Boyd Kauffman, who proceeds her in death.

After moving to Cleveland, Ohio near the start of World War II, she worked in various clothing factories making solder uniforms. She later worked at Lampls Fashions and later National Key Company.

She was a homemaker most of her life. Cassie was a devoted member of the St. Edward Catholic Church, reciting the rosary daily. In addition to church, she was a member of Catholic Daughters and Ladies Guild.

She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening throughout her life. Cassie was an avid reader.

She is survived by one son, Paul (Carol) Kauffman of Ashland; three grandchildren, Michael (Katrin) Kauffman of Viola, Idaho, Christopher (Sarah) Kauffman of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Karen (Thomas) Hetrick of Lindsey, Ohio; four great grandchildren, Adrianna, Maria, and Anna Kauffman and Eleanor Hetrick.

In addition to her parents, Cassie is preceded in death by her husband, E. Boyd Kauffman who passed away on August 26, 1980; and two sisters, Antonia Fraley and Dominica Kovell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Friday, January 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with the Reverend Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, January 12, 2017 in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the rosary said at 7 by the Catholic Daughters.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Catholic School, 433 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
