Robert L. Glasser 77 of Ashland, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, February 27, 2017 at his residence. Bob was a good Christian man.
He was born in Ashland, Ohio on September 6, 1939 the son of the late Jacob A. and Frances P. (nee VanTilburg) Glasser.
He was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1957 and graduated from Ashland College in 1961 with a Bachelor Degree in Comprehensive Science.
He began his working career as a chemist with Swan River in Bucyrus, Ohio, he then worked in Akron, Ohio as a chemist before taking a position with the Petro-Tex Company in Houston, Texas as International Sales Manager. He traveled the world for several years before taking an early retirement from the company.
Bob enjoyed taking photos during his travels for Petro-Tex and had many award winning photographs. When the early retirement became boring, he took a position with a portrait photography company in North Carolina. He later moved back to Ashland to become a caregiver for his parents when their health began to decline. Following the death of his father, Bob continued to care for his mother and worked as a car salesman for Grahams in Mansfield, Donley Ford and Motion Automotive in Ashland and Skarl Motors in Shelby.
Bob served in the Ohio National Guard with the 1486 transportation company based in Ashland. He was a member of the Am-Vets Post 26 of Mansfield, Eagles Lodge 2178 of Ashland and the Ashland Moose Lodge 1383. He enjoyed traveling, photography, fishing and bowling.
He is survived by his aunts and uncles, Mike & Florence Glasser of Ashland, Janet Glasser of Ashland; Arthur Wayne and Eleanor VanTilburg of Portland, Oregon; a sister-in-law, Julia Glasser of Ashland; and several nieces & nephews, great nieces & nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob A. and Frances P. Glasser and one brother Jacob William Glasser.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes there will be no visitation or services at this time.
A Celebration honoring Bob’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to Hospice of north Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Christ United Methodist Church 1140 Claremont Ave. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
