Obituary for Donald R. Turk

Donald R. Turk, 85, of Ashland, passed away Sunday morning, April 9, 2017 at Brookwood Place in Ashland.
He was born in Kent, Ohio on October 24, 1931 and was the son of Robert Jordan and Alice E. (Everett) Turk. He has been a resident of the Ashland area since moving here from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio in 1944.
He was a graduate of Polk High school class of 1949.
He was employed at Philway Products for 15 years and then had worked at Mansfield Tire and Hydromatic Pump Co. He also owned and operated his own farm in the Polk area as he worked at his other jobs.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956.
He attended the Polk United Methodist Church and was a member of the Eagles Club 2178 and the Am Vets Post #96. He was also a former member of the Moose Lodge #1383 in Ashland.
On November 8, 1952 he was married to Portia D. Miller who survives him. He is also survived by one daughter, Linda K. (Michael) Turner of Polk: two sons, Gregory J. (Janis) Turk of West Salem and Jeffery J. (Patricia) Turk of Polk; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Scott) Dawson, Nicole J. Walter, Quintine J.A. Turk, and Robert J.P. Turk; four great grandchildren, Taylor, Skylar & Rylee Dawson and Kinsley Barbeisch; one brother, Roy M. (Faye) Turk of Ashland and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sally Schoonover and one brother, Charles E. (Chuck) Turk.
Graveside Funeral services and burial will be held Saturday April 22, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. at the Polk Cemetery with the Rev. Cheryl Roshon officiating. There will be no visiting hours. The Ashland Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military honors at the gravesite also on Saturday. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Polk United Methodist Church, 424 N. Main St. Polk, Ohio 44866 or to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
