Gary G. Liston, 70, of Savannah passed away, Tuesday, May 2, 2017 in Sycamore Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millersburg.
He was born August 26, 1946 to Deven and Lucille (nee Dodson) Liston in Cleveland, Ohio.
Gary graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1964.
He married Janice on December 2, 1967.
He retired after more than 35 years from the Ohio Department of Transportation, where he held several positions throughout his tenure. Following his retirement, Gary worked for Clear Creek Township, as the sextant for Savannah Cemetery.
He was active in the Savannah community having served on village council, the water board, and countless community organizations.
Gary attended Calvary Baptist Church. He was a volunteer for the Savannah Fire Company throughout his adult life. Gary enjoyed watching Western’s on television.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Mrs. Janice K. Liston of Millersburg, formerly of Savannah; his mother, Lucille Egyed of Savannah; one daughter, Stacy (Mike) Case of Ashland; one son, Jerry Liston of Savannah; five grandchildren, Mackenzie (Denison) Smith, Mikayla (TJ) Jones, all of Savannah, Makenna Case of Ashland, Britny Liston of Shelby, and Megan Liston of Willard; and five great grandchildren, Isabella, Tramane, Zariah, Vada, and Akaysha.
Gary is preceded in death by his father, Deven Liston; and his step father, Louis Egyed.
Funeral services will be held, Monday, May 8, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Harry Strachan officiating. Interment will be in the Savannah Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Savannah Volunteer Fire Company, 6 Haney Road, Savannah, Ohio 44874.
