Harriet Roberta Diehl, 84, of Ashland went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday afternoon, May 12, 2017 following a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born in Columbiana County, Ohio on January 18, 1933 to the late Ronald and Teresa (Frank) Jackson, and was a graduate of Salineville High School.
She has been a resident of Ashland County since moving here in 1979 from Wooster, Ohio.
Harriet was an excellent seamstress, working with Wooster Bridal Gallery for many years.
She loved playing the piano, writing songs about her faith and singing. She also loved creating colorful flower gardens, nature, and had a delightful passion for beautiful sunsets.
Her family gatherings were always filled with enjoyment of her wonderful recipes passed down from her own mother.
Harriet married her beloved best friend, Robert E. Diehl on July 18, 1952 and the couple would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this July.
She is survived by her husband Robert E. Diehl, her children, Robert E. Jr. (Chris) Diehl of Wooster; Terri Emick-Selemani of Ashland; Cinda Diehl of Ashland; Darla (Joey) Brown of Ashland and Tamara (Duane) Fisher of Ashland; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Jason Robert Diehl in 2006; and her six siblings, Harry, Stanley, Kathryn, Kenneth, Edwin, and Alice.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nankin Cemetery with the Rev. Ben Roby officiating. There will be no calling hours. Family and friends are asked to gather at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning and will travel in procession to the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.
