Obituary for Laura Kay Pickersgill

Laura Kay Pickersgill, 52

Laura Kay Pickersgill, 52 of Ashland passed away, Monday, July 10, 2017 unexpectedly.

She was born on November 27, 1964 to James and Carolyn (nee Sweet) Lucas in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Laura graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1983. Following her gradation, she went on to earn Bachelor’s Degree of Education from Ashland College in 1987.

She married the love of her life, Douglas Pickersgill on March 27, 1988.

Laura has taught for more than 15 years at Hillsdale Local Schools where she taught 3rd, 1st, and Kindergarten. She was actively working on the completion of her Master’s Degree.

Laura was a devoted member of Garber Brethren Church where she sang and enjoyed playing the piano. She assisted twice a month at the Garber Brethren Hunger Center for many years and participated in safety town.

Laura is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Doug Pickersgill of Ashland; her parents, Jim and Carolyn Lucas of Ashland; one daughter, Lauryn Pickersgill of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; two sons, Dustin Pickersgill of Columbus and Bryson Pickersgill of Ashland; two sisters, Angela (Steve) Boyce of Alexandria, Ohio and Carrie (Justin) Hubler of Ashland; three brothers, Michael (Kimberly) Lucas of Mansfield, Craig (Kimberly) Lucas of Ashland, and Matthew (Kari) Lucas of Mansfield; and her mother-in-law, Joy Pickersgill of Fairview Park.

She is preceded in death by her paternal and maternal grandparents; and a father-in-law, Donald Pickersgill.
Funeral services will be held, Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the Garber Brethren Church with Reverend Arden Gilmer officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, July 14, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Garber Brethren Church.
