Janice Lou Morris 89, of Ashland, passed away early Thursday morning, August 24, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a short battle with cancer.
Janice was born in Chatham, Ohio September 29, 1927 and was the daughter of Floyd and Lucile (Miller) Welsh. Her family moved to Ashland County from Spencer, Ohio and she graduated from Savannah High School in the class of 1945.
She had worked as the City Tax Administrator of Findlay, Ohio retiring in 1993.
She loved tending to her flower gardens and always said I don’t want flowers when I’m gone, I want them while I’m living so I can enjoy them. She also loved Halloween and dressing up in costume for the parties.
Janice is survived by her children, Julie (David) Brockway of Ashland; Chris (Greg) Kaufman of Canton, GA; Kelly (Nancy) McQuate of Grand Rapids, MI; 7 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and three sisters, June Dalton and Jacy Ceccarelli both of Ashland and Joy Bond of Naples, FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Jane Burgess in 2007, a son, Tracy Victor McQuate in 2016 and a brother, Jim Welsh.
A private family graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at the Savannah Cemetery with the Rev. Harry Strachan officiating. There will be no visitation. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
