Harriet A. Krause, 87

Harriet A. Krause, 87, of Ashland, passed away Monday evening November 13, 2017 at her residence following a short illness.

Harriet was born in Ashland on December 12, 1929 the daughter of the late Franklin and Beulah (Range) Moneysmith. She was a graduate of Ashland High School class of 1947 and had been a resident of the Ashland area all her life.

On January 16, 1948 Harriet married Joseph O. Krause. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in Montgomery Township for several years. Harriet would do the chores and help with the milking and Joe would tend to the agriculture portion of the business. The couple would also raise their six children on this family farm. The couple enjoyed 48 years of marriage before Joseph passed away on August 18, 1996.

Harriet always liked to keep busy. She enjoyed woodworking, ceramics, painting, crocheting, knitting, needlepoint, planting, trimming and pulling weeds and tended to her vegetable garden. She also enjoyed traveling and had been to all 50 states. She was a member of the Nankin Community for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her children, Kathryn I. Krause and her sons, Christopher G. and Kevin J. Krause; Walter Michael Krause and his four daughters, Jessica F. (Michael) Lamb and their children, Charlotte A. Lamb and Michael W. Lamb; Hillary A. (Dylan) McCollister; Hannah I. Krause and Sara E. Krause; Joseph F. (Cheryl) Krause and their two children, Jeremy S. (Melissa) Krause and their children, Haley and her son Preston, Taylor Krause and Ryan Krause; and Lisa A. (Dustin) Stanley and their children, Logan Stokes and her son Briar, Shelby Stokes, Sidney Stanley and Payton Stanley; Nancy A. Searl and her daughter, Terri Lyn (Alan) Mellor and their children, Connor Mellor, Cole Mellor, Kailie Mellor and her son Braxytn and Kyle Mellor; Carolyn L. (Michael) Hamilton and their two children, Andrew Hamilton and his daughter Addison, and Alexander Hamilton. She is also survived by one brother, William (Lydia) Moneysmith of Virginia.

Harriet was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joseph O. Krause, a son, George O. Krause, a son-in-law, Bruce C. Searl and two sisters, Joan Markel and Barbara Howman.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Hamilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Krause Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday, November 19, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
