Ronald “Gene” Wolfe, 85
Ronald “Gene” Wolfe, 85 of Ashland passed away, Thursday evening, November 16, 2017 in the Kingston of Ashland.
He was born on September 30, 1932 in Ashland to the late Roe E. and Margaret (nee Straits) Wolfe. Following his graduation from college, Gene proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Gene retired after more than 20 years from Midview School in Elyria where he taught junior high and became Assistant Principal.
He was an Ohio sport enthusiast, following the Cavaliers, Browns, and Indians. Gene played 3rd base for many years for the Faultless Rubber fastpitch softball league. Gene also loved to play basketball. He loved genealogy having traced his ancestors back multiple generations for both sides of his family. Gene went as far as traveling to Germany twice researching his ancestors.
Gene was a frequent visitor to the Candy and Nut Shoppe having visited with the Weaver’s for more than 15 years.
Throughout his life, Gene attended both Emmanuel United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland.
He is survived by a host of extended family.
Gene is preceded in death by his loving parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roe and Margaret Wolfe.
Funeral services will be held, Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Jeff Messner officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery where the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland County Humane Society, 1710 Garfield Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
