Robert W. “Bob” Lowrie, 81, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning, November 21, 2017 at University Hospital in Parma, Ohio.
Bob was born in Ashland, Ohio on November 3, 1936 and was the son of Robert R. and Louise Lillian (Salzman) Lowrie. He had been a resident of Ashland his entire lifetime and was a 1954 graduate of Ashland High School.
He had worked for the United Parcel Service for over 30 years starting out as a driver, then would travel to other counties and states to set up expansion service centers. He then served as service center manager in Marion and then Mansfield from which he retired in 1978. Following his retirement from UPS he worked for Western-Southern Life Insurance Company and later the News Journal.
Bob had served as a member of the 1486 Transportation Company of the Ohio National Guard and was a member of the First Christian Church in Ashland. He was a car enthusiast, and an Ohio State Football and Browns fan and enjoyed watching old westerns on TV.
On July 6, 1958 he was married to Carolyn J. Evel who preceded him in death on December 17, 2000. He is survived by his children, Christine (Brian) Hickey of Ashland and Steven R. (Kathy) Lowrie of Ft. Myers, FL; two grandchildren, Brandon (Nicole) Hickey and Kearstin Hickey and a brother-in-law, Donald E. Boyd of Gun Barrel City, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn Lowrie and his sister Lucille Boyd.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Pate officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
