Irene Julia Albers

Irene J. Albers, 92, of Ashland, died peacefully in her home on January 21, 2018.
Irene was born on April 2,1925, in North Star, Ohio to Martin and Mary (Kaiser) Wenning. She married Cletus J. Albers on August 3,1946 in North Star.
Irene loved her family more than anything in the world. She was a wonderful Christian woman and a bright light to everyone who was blessed enough to know her. Irene’s bubbly laughter and fantastic kitchen creations will be sorely missed, but the rich memories she created will always live in our hearts.
Irene is survived by her beloved husband of more than 71 years, Cletus J. Albers, of Ashland, Ohio; her ten children, Michael (Christine) Albers, Charlotte Schneider, William Albers, Kenneth (Detra) Albers, Steven (Ann) Albers, John (Laurie) Albers, Paula (Jeff) Peters, Cletus II (Gwen) Albers, Theresa (Nicolas) Albers Simon, and Theodore (Vicki) Albers; her 28 grandchildren; her 36 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Irene is the last surviving child of Martin and Mary Wenning.
Irene’s six siblings who preceded her in death are Arnold (Rita) Wenning, Pauline (Elmer) Vehorn, Mary (Virgil) Thobe, Harold (Bertha) Wenning, Dorothy (Ray) Broerman, and Lucille (Robert) Heinrichs; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Albers; and a son-in-law, George Schneider.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Father Rod Kreidler officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Southern Missions, 6050 Hwy 161, Walls, MS 38680 or to St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
