Obituary for Ada Irene Ramsay

Ada (Irene) Ramsay, 90

A monarch to her family, a pillar to the community, and the foundation of Ramsay Farms.

Ada (Irene) Ramsay, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2018 at her family home in Adario, Ohio. Irene’s devotion to her family and firm belief in God ultimately gave her peace.

Irene Ramsay, 90, was born in Huron County on January 31, 1927 and was the daughter of Paul and Ada (Kochenderfer) Pickworth. She graduated from Savannah High School, Class of 1945. On April 23, 1948, she married William Ramsay and would have celebrated their 70th anniversary together this year. She worked at Shelby Depot and as a bookkeeper for Production Credit in her early years.

They were truly blessed with a devoted and loving family within the small Adario community.

Irene raised her six children with discipline, humility, and patience, as she demonstrated devotion through her tireless work-ethic and soft-spoken nature. Irene was an educator at heart and could always be found teaching those around her. She will be remembered by the enduring support she had shown to the community, her beautiful gardens and flowers, and dedication as a lifelong member of the Adario United Methodist Church. She was a 60-year member of the Adario Mother’s Club and spent many hours attending school events and supporting her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Without question, Irene’s love for her family will be carried on for generations. Her countless hours as a homemaker and a provider for her family resulted in an illustration of how life would be if one works hard. She was a lovely woman, provided countless lessons, impacted everyone she encountered and embodies all the attributes of a perfect role model.

Irene’s love and work-ethic clearly shows in her children. She was a wonderful mother and loyal friend to her children, Gary Ramsay, Doug (Susie) Ramsay, Karen (Tom) Burkett, Kay Ramsay, Jane Ramsay and Mary (Fred) Stimpert, grandchildren (Greg, Jerod, Heather, Amy, Alice, Angie, David, Aaron, Sarah, Kate, Jake, Kelvin, Troy, Patty, Renee and Anna); 9 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Kelly (Carolyn) Pickworth.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Joan and Pauline, two brothers, Jerry and Gordon Pickworth, a grandson, Robbie Ramsay and a great grandson, Walker Ramsay.
