Obituary for Charles A. Barrett

Charles A. Barrett, 85

Charles Arthur Barrett, 85 of Ashland, died after a short battle with Lymphoma at Brethren Care Nursing Center in Ashland on February 27, 2018.

Charles “Chuck”, was born in Cleveland, attended Shaw High School and Case Institute of Technology where he earned a Master’s Degree in Statistics.

He was employed for 45 years at NASA Lewis Research Center in Cleveland as a Metallurgical Engineer, where he developed several materials earning him numerous patents.

He married Joan McDermott in 1957 and she has been by his side ever since. They celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary this past December. Chuck’s passions included golf, music and literature.
Chuck is survived by his wife Joan, his son Michael, and his wife Anne, their children; Carter, Vivianne and Nicholas all of Ashland, and his other son Kenneth of Fairview Park.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Thursday, March 15, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Edward Catholic Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, OH 44805 with Father Rod Kreidler officiating with lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward Church, 501 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to St. Edward School, 433 Cottage Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
