Obituary for Jerry L. Whitmore

Jerry L. Whitmore, 76

Jerry L. Whitmore, 76 of Ashland passed away, Sunday, March 4, 2018 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

He was born on June 5, 1941 to the late Victor and Reta Mae (nee Zimmerman) Whitmore. Jerry married the former Rebecca Kauffman on June 8, 1991.

Jerry retired after more than 30 years from the Hedstrom Corporation in 2004 where he was a machine operator.
He was a member of the Ashland Eagles Club Aerie 2178 and the AMVETS Post 149 in Polk. Throughout his life, Jerry was a C.B. operator and loved classic cars having owned many.

Jerry is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rebecca “Becky” Whitmore of Ashland; two sons, Jerry (Meg) Whitmore of West Salem and John (Michelle) Whitmore of Shelby; two daughters, Tammy (Chuck) Warner of Mansfield and Dodi Barker of Mansfield; a son-in-law, Raymond Johnson of Ashland; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Whitmore of Mansfield; two sisters, Beverly Brinker of Nova and Sharon (Louis) Burkholder of Nova; and numerous grandchildren; great grandchildren; special friends, Brent and Heather Coffman; and his K-9 companion, Kishma.

In addition to his parents, Jerry is preceded in death by one daughter, Lora Whitmore; one son, Chad Whitmore; and one brother, Bill Whitmore.

Funeral services will be held, Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Matt Potosky and Eagles Chaplain, Zeke Hedglin officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Joseph S. and Jeannette M. Silber Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44106-2364.
