Obituary for Richard G. Bush

Richard G. Bush, 87

Richard G. Bush, 87 of Ashland passed away, Monday, April 2, 2018 in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on July 19, 1930 in Redhaw, Ohio to the late Oliver and Florence (nee Shoemaker) Bush.

Followings his high school graduation, Richard proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharge, Richard attended business college.

Richard married the love of his life, the former Norma Depler on November 12, 1959.

He retired after many years from Western-Sourthern Life Insurance Company. Richard was also employed for Metropolitan Life for a short time.

Richard was a devoted member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and Harry Higgins Post 88 of the American Legion. He loved hunting and clay shooting and the game of golf. He most of all loved hearing about his grandsons and their sporting events.

Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Norma Bush of Ashland; one daughter, Gayle Baehr of Gahanna; one son, Mark (Cheryl) Bush of Youngstown; three grandchildren, Christopher Baehr of California, and Zachary and Nicholas Bush of Youngstown; and two sisters, Sylvia Zimmerman of Mansfield and Olivia (Floyd) Mollencopf of Galion.

In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by two sisters, Dolores Swaney and Gloria Pinkley.

Graveside services will be held, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashland Cemetery with Reverend Julie Thoms officiating. The Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. A meal and time of fellowship will follow in the Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to OhioHealth Hospice, 335 Glessner Avenue, Mansfield, Ohio 44903.
