Obituary for Leon Uselton

Leon Uselton, 88

Leon Uselton, 88 of Ashland passed away, Sunday, April 1, 2018 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

He was born on December 21, 1929 in Garden City, Alabama to the late John and Castor (nee Boone) Uselton.

Leon married the love of his life, the former Effie Kennedy on January 21, 1952.

He retired after more than 30 years from Akron Standard Mold in Greenwich in 1986.

Leon was a devoted member of the Willard United Baptist Church where he sang and played the guitar. He cherished the numerous trips he made back to Alabama throughout his life. Leon was an avid Alabama football fan; and loved to spend time boating with his loving family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mrs. Effie Uselton of Ashland; one daughter, Barbara Ann (B.J.) Jones of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three sons, Jack (Sandy) Uselton of Ashland, Ben (Brenda) Uselton of Ashland, and Mark (Denise) Uselton of Summerville, South Carolina; 16 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Leon is preceded in death by a half sister; two brothers; and a half brother.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, April 6, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the Ashland Grace Church, 1144 West Main Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Daniel Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call Thursday, April 5, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Great Rivers Affiliate, American Heart Association, P.O. Box 15120, Chicago, IL 60693-5120.
