Obituary for William J. Hickle

William J. Hickle, 67, of Polk, passed away Sunday evening April 1, 2018 at University Hospital Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born in West Virginia on February 25, 1951 to the late William Brooks and Geraldine (Montgomery) Hickle. When he was 12 years old he moved to the Wellington/Amherst area. He later moved to Barberton and then to Polk.
He had been employed at the Ford Motor Company for 15 years and since 2003 had been working at the G&E Company.
While living in Barberton Bill was very active in the New Destiny-Barberton Rescue Mission, helping homeless and rehabilitating drug and alcohol dependent individuals. He would cook meals during the day before going to his third shift job. He would also cook every other Saturday for the men’s church group. Bill was always friendly and outgoing and enjoyed going to family outings.
On September 28, 1968 he married Lorraine Blevins who preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Betty (Tim) Farnsworth of Polk; Sarah (Richard) Boreman of Ashland; Billie Jo Hickle of Polk; and his step-son, Wendell Jr. (Rebecca) Kidd of Garrison, KY. Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Flowers and Wynona Machlomagra both of Wellington, OH; one brother, Stevie Hickle of Wellington and several nieces and nephews and his canine companion Katie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lorraine Hickle, a daughter, Connie Sue Kidd Mills and a sister, Sarabelle King.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday April 14, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Betty Farnsworth, 443 North Main St. Polk, Ohio.
