Obituary for Denny

Dennis D. “Denny” Gilbert, 81, of Ashland, passed away Thursday evening, June 21, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Campus in Ashland.
Dennis was born in Wooster, Ohio on March 31, 1937 and was the son of the late Ralph and Thelma (Marshall) Gilbert. He had been a resident of Ashland his entire lifetime.
He was a milk truck driver and had worked for the Ashland Sanitary Dairy, Boyer Dairy and Emmons Dairy. He then worked for and retired from Ohio Steel Tube in Shelby after 31 years.
He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church, Moose Lodge #1383 of Ashland and the United Steel Workers Union 3057. He enjoyed camping, watching TV, especially the Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Cavaliers and was a Cleveland Browns fanatic.
On February 28, 1970 he was married to Glenda (Holland) who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Brenda Parsons of Mansfield, Rhonda McGee of Anchorage, Alaska; Robin Holland of Ashland; and Ron (Kim) Holland of Ashland; 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Lisa) Fraley, Stephanie (Brian) Bargo, Jeremiah (Tasha) Holland, Josh (Megan) Holland, Libby (Ryan) Wires, Ciji (Kevin) Clark and Cally McGee; 10 great-grandchildren, Ian Fraley, Leeah Fraley, Brionica Holland, Brylie Holland, Jackson Wires, Camryn Wires, Emma Martin, Drake Martin, Mitch Holland and Cora Clark; one sister, Doris Beninghof of Greenwich and two brothers, Jim Gilbert (Madeline Cole) of Ashland and Dick Gilbert of Haines City, FL.; and his loving canine, Duffer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son-in-law, Steve McGee; sisters-in-law, Carol Gilbert and Libby Gilbert and a brother-in-law, John Beninghof.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 27, 2018at 2:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with the Rev. John Bouquet officiating. Burial will be in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the services at 2:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Campus, 622 Center St. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Ohio Health Hospice, 335 Glessner Ave. Mansfield, Ohio 44903.
The family requests visitors to wear Browns, Cavaliers or Ohio State apparel for the visitation period and services.
