Walter Robert Ramage Sr.

Walter Robert Ramage Sr., 85, of Ashland passed away at Brethren Care of Ashland, Thursday evening July 12, 2018. Walter was born on October 9, 1932 in Bozeman, Montana, to the late Rev. Merle F. Ramage and Williamina Ramage.
Walter is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Dorita Weaver Ramage, sister Minamerle (Donald) Van Cleef (Wooster, Ohio), and brother Charles (Sandy) F. Ramage (Hamilton, OH). Also surviving are son Walter (Pamela) R. Ramage Jr. (Logan, OH), son Rev. David (Terrie) C. Ramage (Bellaire, MI), and Meghan (Scott) M. Kinney (McClellanville, SC). Walter was grandfather to eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.
After completing one year at The College of Wooster in 1952, Walter joined the United States Navy where he served until 1955 as an Aviation Machinist’s Mate. He returned to The College of Wooster and in 1959 earned a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science. Walter taught social studies at Black River High School and later retired from Ashland High School where he was a highly respected teacher, senior class advisor, and faculty manager. Walter was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ashland.
A memorial service will be held, Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 320 Church Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Dr. Joann Ford Watson officiating. A meal and time of fellowship will be held at church following the ceremony.
