Miriam M. Swartz, 95, of Ashland, passed away Tuesday morning, July 17, 2018 at her residence in Belmont Tower.
Miriam was born in Holmes County, Ohio to the late Thomas and Freda (Hostettler) Sprang. She was a graduate of Nashville High School class of 1940 and was a graduate of the Mansfield Beauty College.
She moved to Ashland in 1943 from Holmes County and worked as a beautician for 8 years.
On October 1, 1949 she was married to Robert Don Swartz. The couple started a family and Miriam became a stay at home wife and mother.
She was a member of the Nankin Community Church and the Adult Sunday School Class. She taught Sunday School for 5 years and was a member of the Lola Lutz Circle. Her hobbies included painting, gardening, reading, crafting and cooking.
Miriam is survived by her daughter, Roberta A. (John R.) Skelly of Ironton, Ohio, her son, Allan L. Swartz of Ashland; her granddaughter, Teresa (Matthew) Kuehne of Portsmouth, Ohio; and her three great granddaughters, Anna C., Sara G., and Ella R. Kuehne.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 20, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with the Rev. Jake Heskett officiating. Burial will be in the Nashville Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, July 19, 2018 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home and on Friday July 20, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, 1171 E. Main St. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Nankin Community Church, 795 St. Rt. 302 Ashland, Ohio 44805.
