Obituary for Bruce O. Gierhart

Bruce O. Gierhart, 79, of Ashland, passed away Thursday evening, August 30, 2018 at his residence, following a period of declining health.
Mr. Gierhart was born in Ashland, Ohio on April 28, 1939 and was the son of Thomas W. and Dorothy Helen (Baughman) Gierhart. He was raised in Ashland County by his mother and step father, Albert C. Coffman and was a graduate of Ruggles Troy High School class of 1957.
On December 15, 1982 he married Dawn M. Reynolds.
Bruce had worked as an accountant for Lorain-Medina Rural Electric and was the company office manager when he retired in 1995. In 1995 the couple moved to Prescott Arizona where Bruce worked as a custodian at the Prescott High School from 1995 to 2000. They returned to the Ashland area in 2012.
He was a member of the Ashland Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed riding bikes, walking and keeping his eye on the stock market.
He is survived by his wife Dawn M. Gierhart of Ashland; also surviving are his children, Beverly M. Evege, Bruce M. Gierhart; Kimberly A. Gierhart and Michelle E. (Hubert) Peters, all of Mansfield. Six grandchildren, Jeffrey M. (Sara) Gierhart, Beau L. Roberts, Christopher S. Evege, TaSean W. Peters, Teira L. Peters and Hayden E. Peters; seven great grandchildren, Aubree, Ariel, Anjel, Tyren, Gia, TreSean & Falynn; a brother, Stephen (Ruth) Coffman of Kent, Ohio and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father and a brother George O. Gierhart.
A Celebration of life Service will be held Wednesday September 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Nankin Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday September 4, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Ashland Full Gospel Church, 1521 Short Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Pathways Hospice 1171 E. Main St, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
