Mildred E. Carpenter, 94 of Ashland, passed away Thursday morning, October 18, 2018 at her residence.
Mildred was born in Congress, Ohio on November 6, 1923 to the late Walter and Esther (Fox) Howman. She was a 1941 graduate of Nova High School and had been a resident of the Nova-Sullivan area for many years before moving to Ashland.
Mildred was not only a loving and caring mother to her children, she was also a loving and devoted wife helping her husband Lloyd on the family farm while keeping the household going.
She was a member of the Homerville Grace Brethren Church, the Senior Sunday School Class and had served on the church board and had been a Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Nova Lions Club, Nova Community Club and a member of the Ashland County Farm Bureau Council.
On June 7, 1942 Mildred married Lloyd E. Carpenter, a union that would last for 73 years before Lloyd passed away on August 23, 2015.
She is survived by her children, Marilyn (Edward) Newell of Dowagic, MI; Roger (Patricia) Carpenter of Nova; Louise (Gary) Leiendecker of Canal Fulton and Eileen (Jesse) Raubenolt of Ashland; 8 grandchildren, Dean (Linda) Newell, Adam Newell, Carter (Michelle) Newell, Sarah (Aaron) Sturbaum, Jonathan Leiendecker, David (Laura) Leiendecker, Benjamin Raubenolt and Nathan (Heather) Raubenolt; 9 Great grandchildren; a brother & sister-in-law, Edwin (Mary) Carpenter and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd E. Carpenter, a sister, Pauline Phillips and three brothers, Wayne, Carl and Robert Howman.
Funeral services will be held Monday, October 22, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor George Swain and Jim Elder officiating. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 12:00 p.m. Following a luncheon in the Legacy room of the funeral home, burial will be in the Nova Cemetery.
