Obituary for Thomas Lowell Winemiller

Thomas Lowell Winemiller, 93, of Ashland, passed away Monday, November 19, 2018, at Brethren Care Village.

Thomas was born October 2, 1925 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Samuel and Della Amelia (nee Bridewieser) Winemiller.

During WWII he served in the U.S. Marine Corps 3rd Division in the Pacific Theatre including Guam, China, and Iwo Jima, where he witnessed the legendary flag raising.

He graduated from OSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agriculture.

He married the love of his life, Winifred Jeanne Oviatt in June of 1976.

Thomas worked at Hess and Clark, Byer and Bowman Advertising, and Ed Johnson’s Agri Broadcasting Network in Columbus, OH.

He taught Sunday School for more than 45 years at Trinity Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Buckeye Club, Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, and Rotary Club of Ashland. Thomas also served on the Council on Aging Board.

Thomas enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

In addition to Winifred Jeanne, his wife of 42 years, Thomas will be deeply missed by his family, Kent Gregory (Ellen) Oviatt of PA and William Bradford (Linda) Oviatt of Mt. Vernon, and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center St., Ashland, Ohio 44805, with Rev. Dr. Eric Riesen. Friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Arlington National Cemetery.
