Obituary for Robert E. Lawrentz

Robert E. Lawrentz 82, of Ashland, passed away Thursday afternoon, November 22, 2018 at the residence of his long-time companion, Mary Minnick.

He was born in Akron, Ohio the son of Harriet Faye Lawrentz. They moved to the Ashland area when Bob was two years old and he has been a resident ever since.

He was employed at the Hydro-Matic Pump Company in Ashland for 38 years retiring in 2005. He also operated his farm north of Ashland in Orange Township.

Bob was an avid farmer. He was a member of the Ashland Elk Lodge #1360 and Ashland Eagles Lodge # 2178. He enjoyed golfing and had been on the teams at the Elks and Eagles. He would also travel to Myrtle Beach with his friends when you couldn’t golf here anymore, because of the bad weather. He was also enjoyed woodworking.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert Allen Lawrentz of Mansfield; Debbie (Bill) Prosser of Mansfield; Tonia (Bill) Baker of Lexington and Robin (Matt) Bogner of Nova. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; a brother, Jim (Melanie) Gribben of Ashland, and a sister-in-law, Suzanne Gribben of Flagstaff, AZ; His long-time companion, Mary Minnick of Ashland and her children, John (Samantha) Minnick and Leah Minnick.

He was preceded in death by his mother, a daughter, Berdetta Lawrentz and his brother, Butch Gribben.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with family friend, Trudy Bates presiding. Burial will be in the Nankin Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 1:00 p.m. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, 1171 E. Main St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
