Obituary for Sheila M. Puglisi

Sheila M. Puglisi, 93

Sheila M. Puglisi, 93 of Ashland passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.

She was born on June 1, 1925 in Coshocton County to the late Frank and Martha (nee Robinson) Rhodes.

Sheila graduated from Glenmont High School, Class of 1943. As a contributor to the greatest generation; she worked as a Rosie the Riveter. Sheila was first employed at Goodyear in Millersburg having built cargo planes. She later transferred to the Flxible Company in Loudonville where she assisted in building 14 fighter planes towards the war effort.

She married Joseph Matthew Puglisi Jr. on July 17, 1948.

Sheila retired after more than 20 years from the United States Postal Service where she worked as a clerk. After her retirement, she worked ten more years in the Puglisi Pizza Trailer with her son Ron at festivals and fairs throughout Ohio.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed quilting and sewing throughout her life.

Sheila is survived by one daughter, Pat (Randy) Poling of Strongsville; one son, Ronald J. Puglisi of Ashland; two grandchildren, Mindy (Eric) Wahl of Strongsville and Matt (Nikki) Poling of Ft. Myers, Florida; and three great grandchildren Wyatt, Archie, and Emmett Wahl.

In addition to her parents, Sheila is preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Joseph M. Puglisi Jr. who passed away, March 12, 1994; one daughter, Dawn Puglisi who passed away, April 25, 2005; one sister, Carol Vess; and two brothers, Harley and Harold Rhodes.

Funeral services will be held, Friday, December 21, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Rich Pate officiating. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. A meal and time of fellowship will be two hours prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Legacy Room of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cat House Feline Sanctuary, 1130 East Main Street, Box 136, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Ashland County Humane Society, 1710 Garfield Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
