Donald G. Oney Sr., 68 of Ashland passed away, Sunday, January 27, 2019 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born on March 27, 1950 to the late Ernest and Verlie (nee Case) Oney.
Don married Mildred “Millie” Workman on February 16, 1973.
Don was an owner and operator of Don’s Waterproofing for many years. Don worked may jobs during his life. Some of his most memorable jobs were working as a first class welder at the Lorain Ship yard, Clark Brothers Garage in New London, and the Ralph Hassinger Garage in Savannah.
Don was an avid outdoorsmen, a life member of the National Rifle Association and Mansfield Muzzle Loader Rifle Club Inc. He enjoyed guns and coffee at the Cattleman’s Restaurant in Savannah.
Don is survived by his wife of 45 years, Millie Oney of Ashland; one son, Donald G. (Tabitha) Oney Jr. of Ashland; one daughter, Katie (Jeff) Jenkins of Ashland; four granddaughters, Skyler, Lila, Addilyn, and Katelynn; a sister, Ernestine (Fred) Inscho; one brother, Keith (LaNelle) Oney; a sister in law, Tracey Oney a brother-in-law, Gene Workman; a sister-in-law, Bev (Jim) Bell; several nieces and nephews; and a cousin, Jeff Hall.
In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by two brothers, William and Roy Oney.
A Remembrance of Don’s life will be held, Friday, February 1, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church, 891 State Route 511, Ashland, Ohio 44805 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church.
