Obituary for Gladys L. Hartman

Gladys L. Hartman, 91

Gladys L. Hartman, 91 of Ashland passed away, Thursday, February 28, 2019 in Crystal Care.

She was born on October 28, 1927 in Milton Township, to the late Leo L. and Carrie M. (nee Bally) Hartman.

Gladys was a graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1945.

In her earlier years, she was an executive secretary and assistant to the export manager at Ranco. Inc in Columbus. Gladys was also employed at Ohio Edison during the time she went to Ashland College. Gladys transferred to the Ohio State University and completed her bachelor’s degree in 1952. Following college, she worked at Battelle Memorial Research Institute.

Gladys was a devoted member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the senior choir, altar guild, worship and music committee, and the kitchen crew for Luther Club. Throughout her life, she was an avid reader and enjoyed vegetable gardening.

She is survived by one son, Retired Lt. Col. Eric M. (Jean) Hartman of Toano, Virginia; two grandchildren, LTJG Sorcha Leigh Hartman of Coronado, Californa and Conner Patrick Hartman of Toano, Virginia; two sisters, Wilma (Ray) Fulk of Lexington and Mildred (Kenneth) Justice of Hilliard.

In addition to her parents, Gladys is preceded in death by two sisters, Lavonne (Earl) Gault and Fern (Chester) Boyer.

Funeral services will be held, Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Michael Koch and Reverend Dr. Eric Riesen officiating. Interment will be in Imhoff Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 508 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
