Debra E. Sloan, 67
Debra E. Sloan, 67 of Ashland passed away, Tuesday morning, March 12, 2019 in her home with her family by her side.
She was born on June 2, 1951 to the late William and C. Helen (nee Metcalf) Sloan.
Debra graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1969. For many years of her life, she was employed for Sloan Tax Services and for the past 16 years worked at city of Ashland, water department.
She is a member of First Church of the Brethren on third street in Ashland. Throughout her life she has enjoyed flower gardening, collecting angels. reading, and walking and hiking. She has been active with the city park district.
Debra is survived by two daughters, Tonya (Marty) Kral of Ashland and Julie (Jeff) Mitchell of Coldwater, Ohio; one son, Kurt (Rebecca) Karper of Jeromesville; seven grandchildren, Gabe, Clara, and Perry Kral, Justin and Dylan Karper, and Amelia and James Mitchell; her special friend and walking companion, Gil Garrett of Ashland; two sisters, Janie Clark of Lexington, Kentucky and Diane (Dave) Schlaufman of Nova; and two brothers, William (Virginia) Sloan of Lebanon and Steve (Kim) Sloan of Ashland.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church home with Reverend Jeff Scott officiating. Entombment will be in Ashland County Memorial Park Mausoleum. Friends may call one hour prior to the service in the church home from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashland County Cancer Association, 1011 East Main Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster, Ohio 44691.
