Joan M. Hlovac, 83 of Ashland, passed away Friday morning, July 24, 2015 at Ohio Health MedCentral Hospital in Mansfield.
She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Frank and Ruth (nee Johnson) Richmond. She moved to the Ashland area as a young woman and has resided here for over 50 years.
Joan was a hard working woman. She was a homemaker, and for many years she and her family had lived and worked on the Troxel Dairy Farm where she helped with the milking and many of the other farm chores.
She enjoyed listening to classical music and reading, especially her Bible.
Joan is survived by six of her seven children, Mark (Barbara) Hlovac of Utah; Cheryl (Howard) Clark of Ashland; Danny (Marsha) Hlovac of Maine; Christine Hlovac of Ashland; Rena (Ronnie) Salyers of Ashland; and Tina (Randall) Leasure of Ashland. Also surviving are 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren and one brother, Bill Richmond of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Theresa Walton in 2014, two sisters, Judy Steiner and Audry Green and one brother, Don Richmond.
A time of gathering will be held for family and friends on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. There will be no services at this time. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
