Rachel E. Tucker, 90, Beloved Mother and Grandmother

Rachel E. Tucker, 90, of Ashland, formerly of Nova passed away Saturday, July 25, 2015 in Samaritan Hospital.

Rachel was born on August 29, 1924 to the late Lawrence and Jennie (nee Keener) Benner.

Rachel married the love of her life James K. Tucker on Sunday afternoon, following church, April 18, 1948 in the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.

She worked at the Reed House as a waitress and as a seamstress at Cresco Manufacturing for many years.

She was a devoted member of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. Rachel and Jim played bingo in the F.E. Myers Hall and listening and watching the Cleveland Indians. Rachel was an avid bowler at King Lanes. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flower gardening and baking pies for her family.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean (Kirk) Stillman of Ludlow, Massachusetts; one son, James E. Tucker of Ashland; one son-in-law, Gary Wittman of Polk; seven grandchildren, Angela (Jon) Hendrix of Sullivan, Michelle Hitchcock of Ashland, Ben (Angela) Wittman of Delaware, Jennica (Erik) Klimkewicz of Polk, Linda Francis of Medina, Glenn Hitchcock of Ludlow, Massachusetts, and Corey (April) Tucker of Mentor; and thirteen great grandchildren; Brandon, Seth, Jamye, Trevor, Lathan, Allison, Valerie, Blake, Madison, Alahna, Emmit, Shayne, and Lily; one great great granddaughter, Willow; one sister, Ruth (Paul) Bright of Ashland; four brothers, Earl (Pat) Benner of Arizona, Glenn (Pauline) Benner of Ashland, Clyde Benner of Ashland, and Kenneth (Sally) Benner of Ashland; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Rachel is preceded in death by her loving husband of 66 years, James Tucker who passed away August 24, 2014; one daughter, Barbara Wittman who passed away April 24, 2011; one son-in-law, Robert Hitchcock who passed away, May 23, 1997; one sister, Clara Bright; and four brothers, Charles, Raymond, George, and David Benner.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren, 960 Township Road 964 Ashland, OH 44805 with Reverend Paul Myers officiating. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, August 3, 2015 in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the church.
