Tom E. Edwards Sr. 62, of Ashland, passed away early Saturday morning August 22, 2015 at his residence.
Tom was born January 2, 1953 in Ashland to the late Richard D. and Blanche Louise (nee Harry) Edwards. He was a graduate of Mapleton High School class of 1971, and had lived most of his life in Ashland County.
Tom worked for Columbia Gas Company as a meter reader, Inspector and Field Supervisor. He worked for 39 years with the company retiring in June of 2014.
He was a member of St. Edward Catholic Church and sang in the church choir. He was a devoted member of the Hayesville Lions Club where he was a two time Lion of the Year and the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was actively involved with the Hayesville Lions productions of the annual Hayesville Follies. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the NRA.
Tom loved aviation and made real and model radio controlled airplanes a hobby of his. He also loved cars, hunting, traveling around the country and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
On September 20, 1986 Tom was married to Kimberly “Kim” Ann Clark at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Ashland, and was married for 27 years before Kim passed away on February 25, 2014.
Tom is survived by five children, Thomas (Kristen) Edwards Jr. of OK; Jason (Laura) Edwards of CO; Luke (Lana) Edwards of Mansfield; Kyle (fiancée Jaqueline Sanders) Edwards of Ashland and Casey Edwards of Ashland; grandchildren, Ashley Edwards, Riley Edwards, Emerson Edwards, Avery Edwards, Thomas Edwards III and Robert Edwards; one sister, Darla Edwards of AZ, and two brothers, Dennis Edwards of AZ and John (Barb) Edwards of TN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edward’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Father Rodney Kreidler officiating. Burial will be in the Vermillion Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 27, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home. The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to St. Edward’s Catholic Church, 501 Cottage St, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
