Carl E. Fulk, 97
Carl E. Fulk, 97, of Ashland passed away Tuesday morning, September 15, 2015 in the Hospice of North Central Ohio with his loving family by his side.
He was born March 4, 1918 to the late Jay and Jessie (nee Ferguson) Fulk in Ashland, the fifth out of eleven children. Carl grew up on Route 250 south of Savannah.
He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII. Carl became part of the army reserves in 1936, and active service in 1940. He was honorably discharged in 1945. During his years in the military he was stationed in England, Algeria, and southern France and obtained rank of Technical Sergeant in the 231st Medical Composite Battalion.
Carl married the former Donna M. Likes on November 17, 1948. The couple would share 58 years together.
He retired from Westinghouse in Mansfield as a Silk Screen Printer in 1982. After his retirement he went on to work at Ashland Florists and later Annette’s Victorian Garden for more than 20 years. Carl finally retired at the age 90.
Carl was a member of the United Methodist Church of Savannah, V.F.W. Post 1067, and Harry Higgins Post #88 of the American Legion.
He is survived by two daughters, Barbara (Dale) Siwinski of Solon and Debbie (Robert) Hickey of Polk; one son, William (Miyoko) Fulk of Ashland; four grandchildren, Gretchen (Jason) Plank, Jennifer (Jack) Hogbery, Suzi (Jon) Chin, and Dale Siwinki; six great grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Krause of Ashland and Marjorie Brown of Melbourne, Florida; a sister-in-law, Helen Ewbank of Ashland; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Carl is preceded in death by his wife, Donna M. Fulk who passed away January 26, 2007; two sisters, Betty Pifer and Katherine Pfeifer; and six brothers, Marshall, Wade, Paul, Howard, Richard and Victor Fulk.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Johnnie Swann officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Cemetery where the Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
