Charles Theodore Efaw, 71, of Ashland, passed away Friday afternoon, April 1, 2016 at his residence.
He was born in Marshall County, West Virginia on July 14, 1944 to the late Everett and Elizabeth (nee Austin) Efaw. He has been a resident of Ashland County since moving here in 1966 from Monroe County, Ohio.
Charles worked as a machinist for the F.E. Myers/Pentair Company for 43 years retiring in 2008.
He was a veteran of the United States Army, and a surviving POW, serving in Germany during the Berlin Crisis, where he was captured and held as a prisoner of war for over a year.
Charles was an avid fisherman, he enjoyed camping, hunting, watching NASCAR and attending auctions.
On December 23, 1964 he was married to Wilma (Miller) who survives him. He is also survived by two children and four grandchildren, Beverly (Russell) Lewis and their children, Tyler and Tiffany Lewis; Charles (Kristi) Efaw and their children, Rebecca & Dylan Efaw all of Ashland County; and one sister Edith (Ronald) Pickens of Martins Ferry, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Everett Efaw.
In keeping with Mr. Efaw’s wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral services.
Burial will be in the Nankin Cemetery.
