Marjorie L. Irwin, 93
Marjorie L. Irwin, 93, of Ashland, passed away late Saturday evening, May 14, 2016 at Hospice of North Central Ohio.
Marge was born in Ashland, Ohio on November 14, 1922 to the late Charles E. and Jesse B. (McConnell) Snader.
A lifelong resident of Ashland, she graduated from Ashland High School in 1941.
On July 22, 1945 she was married to Dean Irwin, sharing 64 years with him before his passing in 2010.
Her three sons and five grandsons were her pride and joy. She cherished them and they cherished her. She will be remembered for sharing words of wisdom, and lovingly preparing Pecan Rolls for Christmas mornings throughout the years.
Surviving are her sons, Tom (Marti) Irwin, Jim (Holly) Irwin, and Steve (Kym) Irwin, all of Ashland; and grandsons Mike, Dan, Aaron, Bobby and Mickey Irwin. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and George Snader and two sisters, Nellie Steltzer and Pat Kiefer.
Together with her husband Dean, they founded Irwin’s Office Supply and Equipment in 1960. Prior to her marriage, she was a switchboard operator at F.E. Myers.
Marge was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. As a charter member of Beta Sigma Phi, she served as treasurer. She was a Cub Scout leader for her sons, while Dean was Commodore of Mohican Sailing Club, she served as First Mate. Marge enjoyed traveling the United States with Dean. They made their winter home in Lake Worth, Florida.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. conducted by the Rev. Thomas Snyder. A private family committal service will be held in the Ashland Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to the Brethren Care Foundation, 2000 Center St. Ashland, Ohio 44805.
