Obituary for Richard Joe Reed

Richard Joe  Reed
Richard J. Reed, 53, of Cleveland, Ohio passed away on July 4th 2016 after a strong and brave fight against cancer.

Rick is survived by his mother Margaret Jordan of Mansfield Ohio, his daughter Savannah Townsend (Jeremy) of Galion Ohio, his son Richard Reed of Marion, 3 grandchildren, Danny Townsend, Aaliyah Ely, Maximus Ely of Galion. 6 siblings Dian (Terry) Adkins of Shelby Ohio, Jeff (Karie) Reed of Avon Lake Ohio, Carol Beverly (Greg) of Ashland Ohio, Curtis (Sue) Reed of Mansfield Ohio, Lisa (Chris) Lacy of Mansfield Ohio, Kimberly (John) Bansley of Gary Indiana.

Rick also has several nieces, and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Rick is preceded in death by his children Joshua Reed and Amber Reed, his father Arthur Dean Reed, and step father Dick Jordan.

Rick was born in Wilmington, Ohio on March 31, 1963 the son of Arthur D. and Margaret (Minniear) Reed. He grew up in Savannah Ohio, and graduated from Crestview High School, he enjoyed playing football, and running track in high school. He worked at Standard machine from the age of 16 for most of his life as a manual machinist. Rick was a big family man, he was considered the rock of the family. He enjoyed throwing the Reed family reunion every August for the last several years. He loved spending time with his kids, and grandchildren, going fishing was one of his favorite things to do with his grandchildren. He enjoyed going on hunting trips with his son, and cedar point with his daughter! He also enjoyed just sitting home with his dogs Levi and Jordach, relaxing.

Rick was a huge Cleveland Browns fan most likely one of the biggest you'd ever meet. He enjoyed all Cleveland sports, and was so happy to see a championship win from Cleveland right before his passing. Rick enjoyed horse races, He got his wish granted by seeing a triple-crown winner last year! He was a great dad, grandpa, son, brother, and uncle.

Rick will be greatly missed by many.

Funeral services will be held Friday July 8, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church, Savannah, Ohio, with Pastor John Bouquet officiating. Burial will be in the Savannah Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
