This store was much more than just a business, Marlene gave generously to those in need, donations to many organizations, and she always had time to pray with those in need of a friend. You would always hear songs of Praise and Worship when you entered her doors.
She is survived by three children, Christopher (Nancy) Suitor, of Ashland, Ohio, Jodi (Jeffrey) Gahr, of Winchester, Virginia, Travis (Jennifer) Hunter of Hilton Head, South Carolina, Ten Grandchildren, Kayla, Victoria, Olivia, Chris Jr., Madison, Evan, Ava, Maya, Maziee and James. Marlene was an active member of the Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer, was involved in church and many bible studies. She always carried a heart for the helpless and a smile for the lonely. She loved to be involved in giving her time and help to those in need.
Her greatest joy, apart from serving the Lord, was to spend as much time as she could with all of her grandchildren. She gave of herself generously to build forever memories with all of them. The Holidays and other days with them were so special and she relished in activities such as coloring Easter eggs, decorating Christmas trees, picking apples, making cookies, riding the Music Carousel, going to the Park, attending their school functions, and making each one of her grandchildren feel that they were her Favorite child.
In addition to giving to her family, Marlene had a tremendous love for all children. She partnered with these ministries: Joyce Meyer Ministries, Angel Tree Ministries, Dr. Charles Stanley Ministries, World Vision Ministries, and St. Jude Hospital for Children.
Making friends came easy to Marlene and planning events with them were such special memories in her life.
She will be tremendously missed by her family, friends, and children. She fought a long battle with Metastatic cancer and she was extremely pro-active in her treatment and care. She so wanted to help others too that were facing this disease as she always extended her services, prayers, and love to all of them.
There will be a Celebration of Marlene’s Life at Park Street Brethren Church, on September 24, 2016, 619 Park Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 at 1PM with the Rev. Bob Buford officiating.
