Maxine Barcus, 92
Maxine Barcus, 92, of Ashland passed away, Wednesday, January 18, 2017 in the Kingston of Ashland.
She was born on July 16, 1924 to the late Dallas and Bessie (nee Parker) Ray in Knox County, Indiana.
Maxine graduated from high school in 1943 and went on to business school.
She retired after more than 40 years from First United Methodist Church as the financial and membership secretary.
Maxine married Floyd E. Barcus on May 18, 1946.
She was a devoted member of First United Methodist Church. Maxine enjoyed gardening and was an avid collector throughout her life. She was a member of the Ohio Child Conservation League for many years as well.
Maxine is survived by one son, Daniel (Susan) Barcus of Houston, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Deborah Barcus of Troy, Michigan; six grandchildren, Sarah (Marty) Filip of Wylie, Texas, Chris Barcus of Houston, Texas, Matthew (Doreen) Barcus of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Sallie (Jason) Miller of Kokomo, Indiana, Adele (Chris) Hosler of Ashland, and Lisl Barcus of Troy, Michigan; and eight great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Maxine is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Floyd E. Barcus who passed away, August 27, 1994 and one son, Terrence E. Barcus who passed away, December 27, 2013.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church, 220 Sandusky Street, Ashland, Ohio 44805 with Reverend Tom Snyder officiating. Interment will follow in Ashland Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home.
