Stanley D. Motter, 76
Stanley D. “Stan” Motter, 76, of Ashland passed away, Thursday, January 26, 2017 in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center.
He was born on August 6, 1940 to the late John and Fern (nee Munhollon) Motter in Nankin.
Stan graduated from Savannah High School, Class of 1958. Following his graduation, Stan proudly served in the United States Army during Vietnam.
He retired in 2006 after more than 38 years from F.E. Myers, now Pentair where he worked as a machinist.
Stan attended Savannah United Methodist Church throughout his life. He was a member of Harry Higgins Post 88 of the American Legion. Stan was a valued asset to the Amish community by providing transportation and assistance in any way possible.
He is survived by two sons, Dean (Trish) Motter of Gaston, Oregon and Joe (Shannon) Motter of Hillsboro, Oregon; one daughter, Holly (Robert) Fullmer of Ashland; five grandchildren, Delaney and Peyton Motter, Tiffany Campbell, and Aaron and Samantha Fullmer; one great granddaughter, Annabeth; one sister, Diane Chandler of Ashland; one brother, Richard (Janet) Motter of Shiloh, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents,
Stan is preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, David, and John Duane Motter; and one sister, Doris Spencer.
Funeral services will be held, Sunday, January 29, 2017 in the Savannah United Methodist Church, with Reverend Johnnie F. Swann officiating. The Ashland Veteran’s Honor Guard will conduct full military honors at the church. Friends may call two hours prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, 1338 Claremont Avenue, Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Savannah Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 162, Savannah, Ohio 44874.
