Once my sister Mary (age 8) and I (age 5) were out playing in the field behind our house.  In the neighborhood, there was a big mean German Shepherd dog that would attack people.  All of a sudden a big German Shepherd dog was running toward us.  My sister Mary forcefully pushed me behind her.  She was putting herself between me and the big dog.  As far as I was concerned, she saved my life.  Well, it turned out that this big dog was just a friendly neighborhood dog that wanted to play.  This doesn't change the fact that Mary was willing to face the mean dog in order to protect her little sister.  I will always remember that.   Of course Mary, being who she was, did not remember it.
