Paul E. Reed, 90
Paul E. Reed, 90 of Red Haw, went home to be with the Lord, June 21st, 2018 following a lingering illness. He passed away at his residence where he was surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born January 8, 1928 at his lifelong home in Red Haw. He was the son of the late Arthur and Mary (Smith) Reed. He was a graduate of Congress High School class of 1946.
He was a lifelong carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 735 in Mansfield.
He attended Ashland Grace Brethren Church where he was a member of the Builders Adult Bible Fellowship serving as class leader for several years and as an usher. He was a former Perry Township Trustee. He had used his carpentry skills on several projects around the church. He enjoyed working on home projects for his family, woodworking, golfing, traveling and attending his grand-children’s events. He was always helping anyone in need and he always put God first and family second.
On June 25th 1950, Paul married Betty Jones and they were married for 64 years until she preceded him in death on December 28th 2014. He is survived by his four children, Stanton (Connie) Reed, Lee Ann (Sam) Butler, Patricia (Tom) Thomas and Pamela Reed all of Red Haw; seven grandchildren, Heather (Matt) Rebman, Jennifer (Nick) Nedostup, Ben Reynolds, Elizabeth McClurg, Bricia (mark) Huckleberry, Jacob Thomas and Dr. Sarah Thomas. A proud great-grandfather of 12; his siblings, Marilyn (Keith) Switzer of Tenn; Howard (Barb) Reed of Congress, Betty Hottel of Wooster and his faithful pup, Sadie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Seth Reed; brothers, Ivan, David, Kenneth and Clarence “Dennis” Reed and sisters, Pauline Crumley (his twin), Ada Kruger and Catherine Funk.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Tuesday, June26, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at Ashland Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Norm Johnson and Pastor Dan Allan officiating. Burial will be in the Red Haw Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 25, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Gasche Funeral home and on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. at Ashland Grace Brethren Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to Pathways Hospice, 1171 E. Main St. Ashland, Ohio 44805 or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 5, Ashland, Ohio 44805.
The family would like to thank all his caregivers over the last 3 ½ years, also Pathways Hospice who supported Paul and his family over the last two weeks.
